About myself
Welcome to my journalism portfolio. I graduated from the University of South Wales (formerly University of Glamorgan) in 2013, setting up this website as a platform to showcase a range of my projects spanning across three years of study and beyond. During my journalism course I picked up some key skills in a variety of core areas, each of which have allowed me to build up my knowledge and understanding of the industry as a whole.
Although it has always been my intention to focus on the sport side of journalism, the collective modules of Glamorgan's journalism course gave me the chance to learn about every facet of the subject - television, radio and print - leaving me in a position to push on and find work in what is a tough industry to break into. Despite the scare stories suggesting that the world of journalism - or more specifically print-based journalism - is dying, I decided to major in this particular area.
As mentioned, I have a strong interest in the sport side of the industry so made the decision early on to pay a particular focus to this throughout my three years of study, which allowed me to gain as much experience as possible. Within this portfolio you will find examples of my work, which range from essays and presentations through to my dissertation and major journalism project - all of which have been completed to the highest of my ability and resulted in me walking away with a 2:1 overall.
Feel free to navigate through the site using the tabs at the top of the page, and if you wish to get in touch you an contact me at: [email protected] or via LinkedIn: http://uk.linkedin.com/pub/daniel-lewis/72/aa7/27b
[Update: In order to build up my portfolio, over the past 18 months I have taken up various Freelance roles at a number of sports websites. Following on from this, I became employed by Sports Mole in December 2013 - more of which can be found under the Freelance Journalism Portfolio tab.]
